Max Finshes His Championship in Dallas
Dec 2009
Greater Collin KC Show
Dallas TX
Max won Best of Winners and Best Opposite both Saturday
and Sunday at the Greater Collin KC Show at Dallas Market Hall
earning him 4 points and his AKC Championship. Greg Reyna did
his usual magic grooming Max to perfection and showing him in
both his Junior class ring and winners ring. Since Greg handles
his special Sonnenschein River Chase (Reba) in the breed ring,
Terry handled Max in the breed ring. In fact, Max's "stable
mate" Reba went on to a Group 2 placement on Sunday in the
Working Group.
Max had an outstanding season as a puppy and junior dog. From
his first showing in April, two showings in May and his finish
in December, Max was shown in four regular AKC shows for points
and earned a Best of Breed, and 5 Best of Winners and Best
Opposite. Max never competed in any of his four regular AKC
showings where points were at stake without winning points and
finished at the young age of 16 months, an outstanding
achievement for a male Giant. Many thanks to Greg Reyna for his
simply superb grooming and handling, Dr Russ Stovall for his
expert behavior advice and getting us started in fine style in
Beaumont and of course Cynthia Fiorino for her outstanding
breeding!
Max Wins Best of Breed First Time Out
April 2009
Beaumont/Baytown Kennel Club Show
Max won a Best of Breed from judge Judy Harrington in the
Saturday April 25th Beaumont Kennel Club Show. Despite having to
correct a blown coat from having his jacket accidently bathed
and blown dry the Thursday before, Max showed beautifully in
his first show weekend. Judge Judy Harrington couldn't pass up
his reach and drive and awarded him his first Best Of Breed
ribbon. Max outperformed a beautiful Giant ranked in the top
twenty breed list in early 2009 to win his first BoB. He also
won a Group 2 in the Working Group of the puppy competition that
day. Max was expertly handled by Dr Russ Stover in his first
outing. Besides handling in Beaumont, Russ has provided expert
advice in helping us properly socialize Max and get him adjusted
to his new family.
Max Wins Back-to-Back Majors His Second Weekend Out
May 2009 Denton
Kennel Club Show
Max competed against a field of seven Giants in the annual
Denton show and came away with Winner's Dog both days. Several
Giants were well pointed class dogs who were beautifully handled
in the ring. However Max performed very well again showing
beautiful movement for a 10 month old puppy. These wins provided
2 majors for Max given the large field of entries. Max was
handled beautifully in the class rings at Denton by Greg Reyna,
widely respected for his expertise in handling Giants. Linda
George expertly handled Max in the Best of Breed rings at Denton
since Greg shows the beautiful female, Sonnenschein River Chase
(Reba) as a special. Reba in fact won Best of Breed both days in
Denton.
Max Wins Best Opposite Against Males Champions in OK
May 2009 Seminole
Kennel Club Show
Max took Best of Opposite Sex in Shawnee OK at his third
showing. This major came against two very nice male champions,
one a rare pepper and salt champion. The BOS on Saturday moved
Max up to 12 points and with a likely win on Sunday, Max would
have finished his AKC CH title. Given our desire to take Max to
the 2009 Nationals, we made the decision with the expert advice
of our handler, Greg Reyna, to hold Max out of the Sunday
competition in order to hopefully finish him at the GSCA
Nationals in September as a 12-18 month Junior.
Max Win Best in Match
Sep 2009 Cypress
Creek Kennel Club
Max won his Working Group under Judge Cathy De Le Garza and went
on to win Best in Match under Judge Carol Moser at the Sep 2009
Cypress Creek Kennel Club. There was a nice field of dogs
attending the competition on a beautiful but warm Sunday
afternoon. This was Max and Terry's last opportunity to practice
for the upcoming Giant Nationals the end of September. It seems
like Terry's practice and some expert advice finally paid off
and he was able to show Max near his potential! Whatever the
outcome, Max and Terry are sure to have some fun at the upcoming
Western Sweeps at the Giant nationals.
Max Places at the 2009 Giant Schnauzer Nationals
Oct 2009
GSCA Nationals
Roseville CA
Max did an outstanding job at his first-ever Giant Schnauzer
Nationals in the 12-18 month class. He placed 4th under Judge
Marjorie Brooks on Monday Sep 28 with Terry on the other end of
the leash. Max placed 3rd in the National Sweeps on Wed Sep 30
under Judge Mike Stone and again on Thursday October 1st in the
National Conformation under Judge Barbara Bender. Max was
handled superbly by Greg Reyna in both the National Sweepstakes
and the National Conformation. It was a great trip and a real
treat to see so many beautiful Giants in one location. The 2009
Nationals also saw an historic first when Ingebars Sergeant
Pepper, handled by Maryann Bisceglia, became the first ever
pepper & salt giant to win the Best In Specialty Show at the
GSCA Nationals.
